Application process

The European Energy Communities Facility supports energy communities across 31 European countries through two calls for proposals. The first call was open from 2 June to 30 September 2025. A new call for proposals will be launch in spring 2026. Emerging energy communities will be able to apply for a lump sum grant of €45,000 to develop a business plan.

  3. Application form
    Make your case for the grant!

    Applicants must create an account in the application portal, where you will justify your eligibility and advocate for your project based on structured evaluation criteria. Aside from tutorials and guidelines in English, a network of national experts will guide and support you throughout the process in your national language!

  4. Evaluation phase
    Unbiased assessment of your application.

    A team of non-partisan evaluators will score submitted applications based on an unbiased, transparent, and fair process. The evaluation results are expected to be communicated by December 2025. Applicants who are not selected in the first call will have another opportunity in the second call!

  5. Business plan development
    Start your business plan with the support of the European Energy Communities Facility!

    Beneficiaries will receive tailored, hands-on training and lump sum grants to develop a strong business plan, turning their energy project into reality. This plan will be monitored and validated by the European Energy Communities Facility team. This document provides details on what should be included in your business plan.
