A business plan to…

BEST4Energy is conceived as an innovative pilot initiative to assess, within the broader development of CER Lucense 1923, the technical and financial viability of coupling BESS with PV plants in a local REC. The aim is to maximise the positive impacts of REC PV plants in the territories where they are installed. The regional setting reflects the characteristics of many medium-density Italian industrial areas: a mix of residential users, SMEs, and larger industries. Yet, the adoption of shared BESSs, especially those designed to optimize self-consumption, deliver grid services, and ensure a fair distribution of energy benefits, remains largely unexplored in this context. BEST4Energy is an innovative initiative in order to strongly support the whole development of nr 6, 1MW-sized PV power plants to be conferred to CER Lucense.

Impact in the community

Currently, CER Lucense expects first-year revenues from incentives of approximately €50k to €70k, to be fully reinvested in local projects and communities. BEST4Energy aims at reaching an average energy-sharing threshold of over 75% for each local configuration (starting from an average target of 55-60% without any BESS), to generate stronger incentives for local reinvestment. Based on our estimates, the economic value of these locally invested incentives could amount to over €800k per year, if the goals of the project will be reached.
