A business plan to…
The primary purpose of our cooperative energy community is to generate environmental, social, and economic benefits for our members – farmers and local residents – and for the wider local area of Podravje and the Eastern cohesion region of Slovenia. By planning to install renewable energy sources, starting with a photovoltaic system on the roof of our cooperative's shared cooling facility, we aim to: 1. Reduce energy costs for the cooperative and its members, ensuring more stable and affordable operation of the local food supply chain. 2. Increase energy self-sufficiency of the cooperative and contribute to the resilience of the local community. 3. Lower CO₂ emissions by replacing fossil-based electricity with renewable generation. 4. Reinvest benefits
Impact in the community
The project will contribute to greater energy self-sufficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance the resilience of both the cooperative and the wider rural community. As mentioned, support is needed to implement this idea. By linking energy generation with agricultural production, the initiative creates synergies between food and energy sovereignty. It helps the cooperative maintain affordability and sustainability in food supply chains, while also serving as a visible example for other rural communities in Slovenia to replicate.
