About EWS Elektrizitaetswerke Schoenau eG

EWS was founded after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster as a citizens' initiative for a nuclear-free future. Since 1998, EWS has been operating as a nationwide green electricity supplier and is committed to a renewable, decentralized, and citizen-owned energy supply. The cooperative now has over 15,000 members and supplies almost 200,000 households and businesses throughout Germany with renewable electricity, biogas, and gas. EWS operates local distribution grids, wind farms and several district heating grids and supports bottom-up action for the energy transition through its own funding program, advocacy and campaigns.
