About Cooperativa de Energie

Cooperativa de Energie is the first energy community in Romania. The cooperative aims to accelerate the energy transition by maximising renewable energy production whilst keeping the production facilities in the hands of citizens. Cooperativa de Energie is preparing to make joint investments in renewable energy production facilities (mostly solar) and provides the energy back to the citizens. The cooperative takes on an educational role by organising local workshops and supporting the foundation of new initiatives in Romania, whilst developing their own renewable projects and thus serving more members. The cooperative has recently expanded its knowledge and expertise on the concept of energy communities through its participation in three LIFE projects (LOOP, ACCE, COMET). These projects support the growth and development of the cooperative, and elaborate their knowledge and experience on topics like funding and business models for energy communities.
