Is your energy community facing technical, financial, legal or organisational challenges? Although our call for proposals is now closed, the Citizens’ Energy Advisory Hub (CEAH) offers a great opportunity to receive tailored expert support to bring your project to the next stage.

Until 16 October, energy communities and other citizen energy initiatives can apply to receive up to 40 hours of free technical assistance from CEAH experts. The call covers five types of technical assistance, addressing different aspects of developing and strengthening a citizen energy project.

  • Financial advisory support: tailored financial planning, early-stage investment guidance, fundraising strategies, and financial literacy training.
  • Technical support: technical and technology design, regulatory frameworks, digital solutions, and communication strategies.
  • Legal support: guidance on legal structuring and governance (legal form, statutes and governance rules), as well as contracting and regulatory compliance.
  • Stakeholder engagement support: inclusive community involvement, behavioural insights, and targeted engagement of vulnerable or underrepresented groups.
  • Capacity building support: guidance on energy sharing, consumer protection, support schemes, and long term skills development.

Each selected initiative will be matched with the most suitable expert(s) based on their needs, location and project focus, and every project will receive at least one in-person visit to help build trust with local stakeholders. Beneficiaries will also have the opportunity to join a peer exchange programme, connecting them with other projects across Europe at similar development stages.

The call is open to a broad range of organisations and groups involved in citizen energy projects. This means that both established energy communities and groups that are still developing their initiative can apply, as long as they meet the eligibility requirements.

How to apply

Applications need to be submitted through an online application form by 16 October, and full details about the call are available in the CEAH Technical Assistance Guidance Note, published in all 24 official EU languages.

If you have questions, you can reach the CEAH team directly at ceahta@ecorys.com.

Already received a grant from the European Energy Communities Facility?

These two forms of support can work very well together: our grant helps you build the business plan, while CEAH's technical assistance can help you implement it and support your energy community’s next steps.

CEAH’s technical assistance is also a great opportunity to get help if you citizen energy project wasn’t eligible for our support scheme.
