The European Energy Communities Facility has just launched an online database of financing opportunities for energy communities, with the objective of helping community projects move from planning to implementation.

Many communities face challenges in acquiring financing for their projects after the planning stage. The Facility supports communities in overcoming this step in different ways; by offering lump-sum grants to develop a business plan, strengthening their financial skills through the online capacity-building programme (available to all communities), organising dedicated webinars to train communities on how to pitch their project to finance providers (for beneficiaries), and the openly accessible database of financing opportunities.

The database provides an overview of EU-wide, national and - in some cases - regional or local funds or financing opportunities available to energy communities, including grants and loan schemes. Communities will be able to search for relevant funds according to the country, funding size, types of activities and technologies supported, co-financing requirements, and more.
