Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland / Business Finland

Energiatuki is a permanent Finnish state aid scheme run by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and administered by Business Finland. It supports companies, municipalities, and organisations (not individuals) in investments and studies that improve energy efficiency, increase renewable energy production, or demonstrate new energy technologies. 

Aid levels are typically 10-30% (up to 40% for pilots).

-The project must not have been launched (e.g., no binding order has been placed) prior to the grant decision. As a general rule, funding is granted for costs incurred no earlier than the date of the funding decision. 

-The project must be a voluntary investment. The purpose of the investment must not be, for example, to meet a mandatory environmental obligation or to conduct an energy audit required of the company under the Energy Efficiency Act. 

-The applicant must have sufficient self-financing to cover the project costs, as Business Finland’s grant is paid only after the final project report has been submitted. 

-The applicant organization must meet Business Finland’s general eligibility criteria for funding.
