Energiefonds Utrecht is an investment fund established by the Province of Utrecht to accelerate the local energy transition. It provides flexible, commercial financing to projects that contribute to CO2 reduction but struggle to find full financing through traditional banks. Because it is a revolving fund, the returns from one project are used to fund the next.

Location: The project must be physically located within the borders of the Province of Utrecht. Proven Impact: The project must demonstrate a clear and measurable reduction in CO2 emissions. Financial Viability: A solid business case is required showing that the project can repay the loan over time. Additionality: The applicant must demonstrate that the project cannot be fully financed by the market alone.
