The Sustainable Energy Communities (SEC) Programme is a national initiative that supports communities across Ireland to work together on energy awareness, planning, and action.
It provides:
- A structured Learn–Plan–Do pathway
- 100% funding for an Energy Master Plan
- Tools, resources, events, and case studies
- A network of 800+ communities Its goal is to engage and enable energy citizens and help communities achieve their energy goals.
Application process & requirements
To join the network, communities need to complete the online registration form. This allows SEAI to understand the community, its key areas of interest and how SEAI can best support you.
Once the application to the network is approved, the community will be assigned a local SEAI community mentor. The mentor will contact the community to provide guidance and support and help them start thinking about energy use in their community in an informed and practical way. The mentor can also share information about the programme and examples from other communities similar to the applicant.
The application form to the SEAI network is available here: https://www.seai.ie/plan-your-energy-journey/for-your-community/sustainable-energy-communities/sec-membership-registration
